Se ha reunido el Consejo Escolar del centro. El punto formal del orden del día era la ratificación de los nuevos cargos directivos, pero de la reunión salen otras tres cosas que conviene que todas las familias conozcan. Las resumimos aquí.
Se ratifican los nuevos cargos directivos
El Consejo Escolar ha ratificado al nuevo equipo directivo del centro. Es un trámite necesario para que el equipo pueda ejercer sus funciones con plenas garantías durante este curso, y con él queda cerrado el proceso de renovación.
Desde el Consejo se agradece el trabajo del equipo saliente y se desea el mejor de los cursos al entrante, que ya arranca con varios asuntos importantes sobre la mesa. El primero, este:
Hace falta un nuevo IES, y hace falta con urgencia
Este curso empezamos con cuatro aulas prefabricadas en funcionamiento. No es una anécdota ni una solución de un trimestre: es una situación que se alarga y que ya afecta a la vida diaria del centro.
Las prefabricadas se plantean siempre como algo provisional, pero cuando se acumulan cuatro y se mantienen curso tras curso, dejan de ser un parche para convertirse en una forma de funcionar. Y funcionar así tiene coste: condiciones térmicas peores en invierno y en verano, más ruido, espacios comunes saturados, dificultades de organización de horarios y de uso de aulas específicas, y una sensación general de provisionalidad que no ayuda ni al alumnado ni al profesorado.
El Consejo Escolar considera que la única solución real es la construcción de un nuevo IES que absorba el crecimiento de matrícula de la zona. No hablamos de ampliar un edificio que ya está al límite, sino de dotar a la zona de las plazas que necesita.
Desde el centro se seguirá insistiendo ante la administración educativa, y aquí la implicación de las familias importa: cuantas más voces se sumen a la reclamación, más difícil es que el asunto se quede en un cajón.
Las comunicaciones pasan a WhatsApp a través del AMPA
A partir de este curso, las comunicaciones a las familias se harán por WhatsApp, canalizadas por el AMPA. El objetivo es sencillo: que la información llegue a tiempo y llegue a todo el mundo, sin depender de que alguien revise el correo o de que un papel sobreviva al fondo de una mochila.
Para que funcione, hacen falta dos cosas por parte de las familias:
- Asegurarse de que el teléfono está actualizado y dado de alta en el canal del AMPA. Si en una casa hay dos referentes familiares, que consten los dos.
- Reenviar la información a otras familias del curso que puedan no estar en el canal todavía. Ahora mismo la difusión boca a boca sigue siendo necesaria.
Un apunte: el canal es para información del centro y del AMPA. Cuanto más limpio se mantenga, más gente lo leerá de verdad.
Y ahora la petición concreta: FORRAD LOS LIBROS
Este curso se ha cerrado con un gasto excesivo en libros deteriorados que no se han podido reciclar. Es decir: libros que tenían que haber pasado al alumnado del curso siguiente y que han acabado en la basura.
El banco de libros funciona con una lógica muy simple. Un libro que se cuida bien puede dar servicio a tres, cuatro o cinco alumnos a lo largo de los años. Un libro que llega hecho un desastre se retira, y hay que comprar uno nuevo. Ese dinero sale del presupuesto del programa de gratuidad, que no es infinito: lo que se gasta en reponer libros destrozados es dinero que no está disponible para otras cosas.
Forrar un libro cuesta unos minutos y un par de euros. No forrarlo puede costar el libro entero.
Qué pedimos concretamente:
- Forrar todos los libros de texto, con forro adhesivo o con forro de plástico ajustable. Cualquiera de los dos vale, siempre que cubra bien la portada, la contraportada y el lomo, que es por donde se rompen.
- No escribir en el libro, ni a lápiz. Si hay que hacer ejercicios, en el cuaderno.
- No subrayar ni marcar con rotulador, pósits pegados con fuerza ni nada que deje marca.
- Poner el nombre en la etiqueta exterior, no en la portada del libro ni en la primera página.
- Vigilar la mochila: un libro suelto entre botellas, tuppers y estuches se descuaderna solo.
Es una petición pequeña que se convierte en un ahorro grande cuando la hacemos todos. Y este año hemos visto lo que pasa cuando no se hace.
Difundid este mensaje
Este resumen está pensado para circular. Si formáis parte de un grupo de clase, de un chat de familias o simplemente conocéis a alguien del centro que no esté en el canal del AMPA, reenviadlo. Los tres asuntos —el nuevo IES, el cambio de canal de comunicación y el estado de los libros— dependen en buena medida de que la información llegue lejos.

The school’s School Council has met. The formal item on the agenda was the ratification of the new management positions, but three other matters emerged from the meeting that all families should be aware of. We summarise them here.
New management positions ratified
The School Council has ratified the school’s new management team. This is a necessary formality to ensure the team can carry out their duties with full authority during this academic year, and it marks the conclusion of the renewal process.
The Council would like to thank the outgoing team for their work and wishes the incoming team the very best for the coming academic year, which is already beginning with several important issues on the agenda. The first of these is as follows:
We need a new secondary school, and we need it urgently
This academic year we are starting with four prefabricated classrooms in use. This is neither a one-off incident nor a short-term solution: it is a protracted situation that is already affecting daily life at the school.
Prefabricated classrooms are always intended as a temporary measure, but when four of them accumulate and remain in use year after year, they cease to be a stopgap and become the norm. And operating like this comes at a cost: poorer thermal conditions in winter and summer, more noise, overcrowded communal areas, difficulties in organising timetables and using specific classrooms, and a general sense of impermanence that helps neither the pupils nor the teaching staff.
The School Council believes that the only real solution is the construction of a new secondary school to accommodate the growth in pupil numbers in the area. We are not talking about extending a building that is already at breaking point, but about providing the area with the places it needs.
The school will continue to press the education authorities on this matter, and this is where the involvement of families matters: the more voices that join the call, the less likely it is that the issue will be shelved.
Communications will be sent via WhatsApp through the AMPA
From this academic year onwards, communications to families will be sent via WhatsApp, channelled through the AMPA. The aim is simple: to ensure that information arrives on time and reaches everyone, without relying on someone checking their email or a piece of paper surviving at the bottom of a rucksack.
For this to work, families need to do two things:
- Ensure that your mobile number is up to date and registered on the AMPA group. If there are two main contact persons in a household, please ensure both are listed.
- Forward the information to other families in the year group who may not yet be in the group. At the moment, word of mouth is still necessary.
A quick note: the channel is for information from the school and the AMPA. The cleaner it is kept, the more people will actually read it.
And now the specific request: COVER YOUR BOOKS
This academic year has ended with excessive expenditure on damaged books that could not be recycled. In other words: books that should have been passed on to the following year’s pupils and have ended up in the bin.
The book bank operates on a very simple principle. A book that is looked after properly can be used by three, four or five pupils over the years. A book that arrives in a terrible state is withdrawn, and a new one has to be bought. That money comes out of the free textbooks programme’s budget, which is not infinite: what is spent on replacing damaged books is money that is not available for other things.
Covering a book takes a few minutes and costs a couple of euros. Not covering it can cost you the book itself.
What we are specifically asking for:
- Cover all textbooks, either with adhesive book covers or adjustable plastic sleeves. Either is fine, provided it covers the front cover, back cover and spine properly – as this is where they tend to tear.
- Do not write in the book, not even in pencil. If you need to do exercises, do them in your exercise book.
- Do not underline or mark with a felt-tip pen, stick post-it notes down firmly, or do anything else that leaves a mark.
- Write your name on the outer label, not on the book’s front cover or on the first page.
- Keep an eye on your rucksack: a loose book amongst bottles, Tupperware containers and pencil cases will fall apart on its own.
It’s a small request that adds up to big savings when we all do it. And this year we’ve seen what happens when we don’t.
